Day 111: Dec 10th - Hired Captain to sail boat to Messina
It is so beautiful here that we are going to travel the island and explore. We'll pick up the boat in Messina in three days.

Day 110: Dec 9, 2009 - Trapani, Sicily to Trappeto
Sailed from 6am to 2:25pm, and covered 48 miles to the small town of Trappeto. Popular vacation spot with great beaches. From that moment onwards, a wonderful revival caused a rupture with the past thanks to the same residents of Trappeto who were inspired by a renewed faith and an inexhaustible need for humanization and justice towards a destiny of inexorable progress. Trappeto is nowadays a destination chosen by a great number of tourists for its numerous beach hotels, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, pizza places but above all for its sandy beaches. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trappeto

Day 105: Pisa to Corsica

Sailed 900 miles, averaging 30 miles a day. Spending a week in Northern Italy
Day 60: Oct 30, 2009 - 10 day sail down the coast to Gibraltor
Sailed about 300 miles from Lisbon to Gibraltor, making 30 miles a day on average.
Day 53: Oct 23, 2009 - Arrive in Lisbon
Sailed for 10 days to Lisbon. Now we'll spend a week touring Portugal while some minor repairs and restocking is made to the boat.

Day 43: Oct 13 - log of sail in Azores
Sailed the Azores for 6 days and saw the delivery crew off for Portugal yesterday. It should take them 10 days to sail to Lisbon.
Weather has been beautiful - lows of 67 degrees and highs of 74 degrees and sunny with nice breezes of 7 to 14 knots.

Day 36: Oct 6th - landfall sighting

Steady sailing, 5 to 10 foot swells, and cold at night with lows dipping into the low 30s.

Day 19 to 21: Sept 21st Crossing the Atlantic
Met with delivery crew and finished provisioning for 14 to 21 day sail across Atlantic from Halifax to Azores. Crew reported that they sailed to Halifax the first day and purchased an extra jib sail and topped off water. Weather reports have been sunny and pleasant last three days, lows of 49 and highs of 72 degrees. Steady and sustained winds between 5 and 15 knots with gusts to 20 knots. Seas relatively calm at 1 meter, building to 5 meters as wind persists and we get further out to sea.

Preparing to sail to the Azores - the Distance is 3020 kilometers or 1876 miles or 1630 nautical miles. We expect is will take 14 to 21 days to make this crossing.

Checked into the hotel on the 12th - having maintenance done on the bildge pump and the roller furler.
Day 12: Sept 12th - Camden, ME to Bar Harbor, ME
Sailed 40 miles in 6 and a half hours and finally arrived at Bar Harbor. Going to check into a hotel and stay a few days.
Day 10: Sept 10th - Portland, ME to Boothbay Harbor, ME
Low of 41 and high of 75 - big temperature changes - feels cold on the water - sailed 42 miles in winds avg 12 mph
Day 9: Sept 9th - Portsmouth, ME to Portland, ME
50 mile trip - winds avg 15 mph out of the east - fast sailing in rough seas - made 8 knots on avg - set sail at 5:40am and arrives at 12:35am

Beautiful sail today. We made the 57 miles with the tides to our favor in just over 7 hours, and arrived at 2:30 in time to go to Mystic Pizza for a snack. We walked around the lovely town and met Judy and Jeff (Last Name?) for dinner. Very nice weather today, lots of sun and a high of 75 degrees. We moored at the Mystic River Yacht club for the evening.

Note that The total length of the worlds coastline is in the region of 217,490 miles. If we were to sail the coastline of the world averaging 40 miles per day it would take almost 15 years to complete the journey.
Our plan is to sail up the coast to Prince Edward Island and then see about having someone sail our boat to Ireland. From there we could sail along the coast to a destination yet to be determined.
